Scuba Diving - Mimoso Cave

Scuba Diving – Gruta do Mimoso offers different levels of dives in a flooded cave with crystal-clear blue waters. Dives are conducted with an instructor, always in accordance with international safety standards. For the lake dive (introductory dive), the activity takes place in the Initial Chamber, with direct access to the surface, allowing you to admire rock formations, tree trunks, and the passageway leading to the other chambers.

Lake Diving — Introductory Dive

• Certification: not required

• Minimum age: 10 years

• Maximum depth: 5–12 m (varies depending on the time of year)

• Duration: ~2 hours (briefing, gear setup, and 1 dive)

“Discover the Cave” Dive — Certified

• Certification: Basic/Open Water (or equivalent) + 25 logged dives

• Minimum age: 18 years

• Maximum depth: up to 25 m (varies by season)

• Duration: ~3 hours (briefing, gear setup, and 1 dive)

• Description: Beyond the Initial Chamber, the route follows the main passageway lined with stalactite curtains, leading to the entrance of the Chamber of Cones. If the instructor determines that the diver does not meet the necessary requirements, the route is limited to the initial chamber.

Cave Dive

• Certification: Intro to Cave (30 m) and Full Cave (40 m)

• Minimum age: 18 years

• Maximum depth: up to 30 m (Intro) and 40 m (Full); penetration limited to the diver’s skill level

Additional Fees

• Extra single tank + guide.

• Extra double tank (back or sidemount) + guide.

• Duration: half-day (can be combined on the same day with Nascente Azul, Rio do Peixe, Parque das Cachoeiras, Estância Mimosa, and Bio Park)

• Distance: 29 km from Bonito

Restrictions & Guidelines

• Prohibited: use of sunscreen, insect repellent, and tanning lotions during the activity

• Medical restrictions: ear, lung, or cardiovascular problems; the flu; pregnancy; or any condition that prevents participation in the activity

• Alcohol and flights: diving after consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited; it is recommended to wait at least 18 hours after diving before flying

• Mask seal: Must be in direct contact with the skin (beards and mustaches can cause water to enter)

• Wetsuit: sizes P3 to G5 (up to ~135 kg; variations based on height and weight)
